Lights Out: Welcome to the Race Control Blog

We're kicking off the Race Control blog to keep you in the loop on everything we're building. First up: a fresh take on your profile, a powerful new search, a home page that knows what you follow, and a couple of iOS features on the way.

Hey everyone,

Welcome to the very first Race Control blog post. I've wanted a proper place to talk about what we're working on for a while now, and here it is.

The idea is simple. This is where I'll keep you up to date on changes coming to the website and the app, so you always know what's new and what to watch out for. I'll also use it to call out new series as we add them, and every now and then I'll share a few of my own thoughts on the racing itself. Think of it as the paddock pass to what's happening behind the scenes.

Let's get into what's new.

Make your profile yours

You can now change your profile picture and display name. It's a small thing, but it makes the whole experience feel a bit more like your own.

Search that actually finds what you want

There's a brand new search feature that lets you quickly look across every series, event, session and track all at once. It serves up recommended results as you go, so you can jump straight to what you're after instead of digging through menus.

A smarter home page

The hero events and sessions on the home page just got a lot more useful. They now factor in the series you follow and push them higher up the list, so the stuff you actually care about is front and centre the moment you open things up.

Now for what's coming.

iOS widgets

We're working on home screen widgets that show you upcoming sessions at a glance. If you're logged in, the widget will focus on the sessions from the series you follow, so it stays relevant to you rather than throwing the whole calendar at you.

Live Activities on iOS

This is the one I'm most excited about. Live Activities will let you know the moment one of your followed series has a live streamed session running, right there on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. No more refreshing to check whether something has gone live.

That's it for the first post. More to come as we keep building, and I'll do my best to keep these short and worth your time.

See you trackside,

Riley
